Not only will you sample the finest produce in Western Australia, you’ll also treat your eyes to lush views of vineyards and farms. Talk about a sensory overload!
It’s worth devoting an entire day to this noble pursuit, since there are more than 150 attractions:
- Award-winning restaurants and wineries
- Breweries
- Distilleries
- Art galleries
- Wildlife parks
There are a number of group tours you can book, if you feel inclined. However, the beauty of driving yourself is you can go at your own pace.
The entire trail spans 32 km and takes one hour to drive through. Put aside at least three hours, if you plan on visiting more than one place.
Here’s a taste of what you can look forward to:
House of Honey: Learn about the life of bees and sustainable farming, while sampling the honey and trying the mead.
Morish nuts: Dig into free samples of moreish nuts as you watch demonstrations and look around.
The Margaret River Chocolate Company: Free entry and free tastings – a chocoholic’s dream come true. There’s also a viewing window, so you can observe the magic that happens behind the scenes. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dessert at the cafe!
MEALS:
Ironbark Brewery: You’ll be impressed by the award-winning beers, ciders, local wines and scrumptious food at this rustic beer garden.
Black Swan Winery and Restaurant: Explore the vineyards and winery while sipping a glass of red, before settling into a tantalising meal with panoramic views. The restaurant is open for lunch (and wine tasting) seven days a week and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
ACCOMMODATION:
Head back toKeller’s Bed and Breakfast in nearby Dayton (a ten minute drive) to enjoy your second night on a farm.
